Our purpose
Night vision is a category where one phrase can mean an image-intensifier tube, an infrared-lit security camera, a thermal sensor, a phone Night mode, or a green screen effect. We publish durable explanations that begin with the physical signal and end with practical limits.
The intended reader is a photographer, filmmaker, stargazer, walker, or technically curious person who wants a clear answer without having to translate a research paper or a retailer’s sales page.
Named authors and editorial responsibility
Every Field Guide article names the contributor responsible for its research and writing. The author page gathers that contributor’s work; the article itself carries visible sources, publication and review dates, and a correction path. NODs remains the accountable publisher.
A named byline is not a substitute for evidence or external certification. Sources and revision dates remain visible so readers can inspect the basis of each explanation.
The commercial relationship
NODs is an on-device low-light enhancement app. The name comes from the broad NOD / NODs night-observation term, not from one specific sensor technology. The guide may link to the app, and the app benefits when readers understand what it does. Editorial pages do not use affiliate links, paid rankings, or undisclosed product placement. We do not present NODs marketing imagery as independent test evidence.
What we will not claim
NODs is not infrared or thermal imaging, does not see in total darkness, and is not a safety, navigation, surveillance, or detection system. Enhanced images remain interpretations of captured light.
